The company name is intrinsically linked to the position where the vineyards are planted. Col d’Orcia literally means “hill overlooking the Orcia river”, which marks the southwestern border of the production area of Brunello di Montalcino.
Col d’Orcia mission is to produce the greatest wines: the exceptional combination of soil and climate of the Montalcino area is undoubtedly one key factor.
The owners have always attached great value and paid particular attention to the natural environment in which they carry out their activity.
For this reason, starting from 2010, they have been initiating the shift towards organic certification and have become the largest organic winery in all Tuscany. Since 2010, the entire estate, including vineyards, olive groves, arable land, and even the park and gardens, have been farmed exclusively under organic agronomic practices. Col d’Orcia can therefore be defined as an organic oasis in Montalcino.
The owners love to receive every year friends and lovers of the Brunello tradition from all over the world, and they strive to fascinate visitors with their elegant hospitality and to show their dynamic approach to wine-growing and wine-making process. They organize tours through the organic farm and arrange tastings of old vintage wines.
