Description
A unique experience to spend a weekend in the countryside in the Comino Valley: three days devoted to the rural world and sustainability, immersed in the National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise.
Casa Lawrence is the family home of Loreto, a shepherd and dairy producer as well as an agricultural entrepreneur: a late nineteenth-century Victorian-style building completely renovated and turned into a museum-house and a vintage farmhouse. Its name comes from the famous English writer David Herbert Lawrence, who spent some time there and finished one of his manuscripts in one of the vintage rooms. This evocative scenery made of boundless and mysterious mountains, immaculate peaks, the bright green color of the Picinisco pastures enchanted the English novelist who found here the right inspiration to end his renowned novel “The Lost Girl”.
Casa Lawrence also includes the old house of the owner’s grandparents, now renovated and turned into an innovative “Caciosteria”, dedicated to the refinement and tasting of local cheese.
In this experience you will be taught the steps of cheese production, you will learn how to create the excellent cheese product, the importance of the pasture the animals are fed with, of raw milk and natural aging. Afterwards, like in a big family, you will be welcomed by Loreto at his Caciosteria to have a chat among some friends and learn about local traditions and culture and tasting exceptional cheese unwinding over a good local wine.
That’s not all yet: on your weekend, don’t miss the chance to visit the ancient village of Picinisco, which overlooks the entire Comino Valley. Here you can take a walk in the mountains to discover the medicinal herbs together with an expert guide, have a picnic lunch close to an ancient spring, try the ancient local recipes at the Caciosteriaand finally have lunch at the farm on the last day before leaving.
