Description

A bike tour that will take you through the most stunning landscapes and trails in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The tour includes several stops to visit castles, villages and local farmhouses.

Day 1: Gemona
In the morning, you will get to Gemona, symbol of the typical Friulian personality, known for being steadfast and hardworking. Lying on the slopes of the Julian Prealps, it is one of the most picturesque historical towns in Friuli Venezia Giulia and its medieval historical center boasts precious treasures. The town, known worldwide as the center of the earthquake that struck the region in 1976, is today one of the main symbols of the rebirth.

Departure before lunch for the first tour with your bike guide; the tour will last about six and a half hours for 50 miles and 795 meters of elevation gain. The route of medium difficulty will wind through the towns of Venzone, Tolmezzo, Villa Santina, Verzeghis and Bordano, and it is a mixed paved and dirt route where you will enjoy unique views.
Dinner will be served in a typical restaurant, where you will be able to taste local delicacies and excellent Friulian wines.

Day 2: Bike tour – ca. 37 miles, elevation gain 600mt
After breakfast, departure with your bike guide to reach the main bike route of Friuli. You will discover historical villages, fortified citadels, unique rivers in Europe and biotopes that house the wild orchids flowering. You will visit Venzone, designated in 2017 as the most beautiful village in Italy that, like Gemona del Friuli, was entirely rebuilt after the earthquake of 1976. Furthermore, you will discover military forts and resurgences in Osoppo and then head to Buja where you will cross fascinating cycling and pedestrian paths. Without realizing it, you will also end up in Tarcento, a town also known as “the pearl of Friuli”. Finally, before returning to the starting point, you will stop in Artegna, where an aperitif with tasting of typical products will be waiting for you in the Savorgnan castle.
Dinner will be served in a typical restaurant, where you will be able to taste local delicacies and excellent Friulian wines.

Day 3: Bike tour – ca. 40 miles, elevation gain 1500mt
After breakfast, you will meet your guide and get on the saddle for a ten-hour bike tour; you will cross the towns of Artegna, Tarcento, Nimis and Montenars. Enjoy a packed lunch with typical local products or on request in a farmhouse along the way. The route is suitable for well-trained cyclists, alternatively our bike guides can provide less demanding tours.
Dinner will be served in a typical restaurant, where you will be able to taste local delicacies and excellent Friulian wines.

Day 4: Possible bike tour on request or individual experiences
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy your free time to plan individual tours or on request you can take part in other bike tours together with your bike guide.
